I was delighted to attend the Visions of Wallingford Film Screening this past week. Though, it went way beyond just a documentary viewing. It was a curated evening of community and conversation that surprised, challenged and invigorated me.

The event was held at the Good Shepherd Center theatre on the 4th floor and the evening sun streamed through the vintage stained glass. Opening March 24^th, Spamalot! raises money for the arts within Seattle Public Schools. Local community theater company, Woodland Park Players, is staging the musical at Shoreline Community College later this month. Since its inception, Woodland Park Players has granted $37,000 to our public schools. Proceeds from these performances will benefit this worthy grant program.

With more morning and evening hours across all libraries, the new Wallingford Branch schedule adds 16 open hours per week. The best part of a neighborhood are the neighbors. Wallyhood heard from the sister of Jessie Kerani Aleya VanVorhis, a longtime Wallingford resident and friend to many, who recently passed. The following words about Jessie are shared by Naomi Strand (one of Jessie’s sisters).

Jessie Kerani Aleya VanVorhis, an amazing blaze of energy in a small body, passed away December 29th, 2022 at the age of 35. Jessie was born in Calcutta, India and died on Whidbey Island, Washington. Her special powers were her electric joy and ability to connect with people.

Metro is exploring how to revise its bus routes to better serve the new Lynnwood Light Rail station. In the process it also took a look at a bus serving both the Northgate and University District stations and is proposing to eliminate the service through Wallingford. The map shows a dotted line, which is the #20 bus line that is to be eliminated. You can provide Metro with comments on their website through March 10.  The page only talks about Lynnwood but this is where you can comment on the #20.
