Twenty months after shutting down due to the demolition of their previous location, Stone Way Cafe will rise again on May 15. The much-beloved cafe’s new space at 3525 Stone Way N is practically across the street from their old spot, whose next incarnation will be a five-story office/retail building. Longer term residents of Wallingford will remember Stone Way Cafe’s new location at the corner of 35th and Stone as the site of Daly’s Paint & Decorating, one of the many light industrial businesses that once graced this now booming corridor.

Cascadia Pharmacy Opens at Wallingford Center

After a series of Pharmacy closings leaving the neighborhood wondering what the path forward looked like, we have some good news! Cascadia Pharmacy, A new independent pharmacy is opening in the former Pharmaca/Medly space inside the Wallingford Center. It belongs to a group of independent pharmacies across Washington, Oregon and Idaho all called Cascadia, but independently owned.

In addition to pharmacy services, Cascadia Pharmacy Wallingford will offer many of the supplements and homeopathic lines that the former Pharmaca in the same location carried, as well as specialty gifts, with a focus on local sourcing …

Renovation and Expansion

The Wallingford Food Bank shares a space with the library at 1501 N 45th St. Operated by FamilyWorks, the food bank has been unchanged as long as I’ve been around these parts (decades!). Now, however, changes are afoot.

Beginning this summer, the food bank will begin some renovations to the interior of the space. The main area will be redesigned to better serve clients. Professional Chicago kitchen designers can also help with large remodels and renovation projects like this.

You know that it is really springtime in Seattle when Tilth Alliance (formerly Seattle Tilth) holds its annual edible plant sale in Meridian Park. This is one of the big events on the Seattle plant nerd calendar, and is a big draw (and traffic/parking challenge) to the neighborhood. As has been the case in recent years, the plant sale is a three-day event May 3-5, with an early-bird pre-sale on Friday evening (5:00p-7:00p) and the usual Saturday-Sunday (9:00a-3:00p) fest.
