We all have stories unique to ourselves, our families, our upbringings, our lives. Join us for an opportunity to share your stories and hear about the journeys of other Seattle area seniors. Tell Us Your Story is starting this month and will run on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 11:30am – 1:00pm. The first session is Thursday, September 22nd.

As we posted last week, The Great Wallingford Wurst Festival returns today. Wrap up your day early, come hear some tunes and enjoy a bratwurst (or a variety of other great options – Filipino booth anyone?!).

After a two-year hiatus, we are thrilled to inform you that the Great Wallingford Wurst Festival is returning to the neighborhood September 16 and 17th! The 37th annual event hosted by the St. Benedict School is a chance for kids and adults to have fun, get to know neighbors and raise funds for the school.

The festival includes live music from 16 local musical acts and bands, great food and beverages, bouncy houses, a “Fun Zone” filled with games and prizes for kids, a variety of crafts and vendors, a sweet shop, and an outdoor beer garden (21+ only).…

You are invited to join Play Reading at Wallingford Community Senior Center on Mondays from 2:30 – 4:00 PM. Play Reading is open to the greater community and free. It’s a fun and stimulating chance to interact with others as the group encounters a play together.

Why play reading?  Molly B, a play reader, answers:

“When you read a play out loud, you have the chance to enter into a character’s perspective. You can behave as they do without feeling responsible for the character’s actions.”

We had a great time meeting all of you on Murphy’s Wednesday night at the first “post”-pandemic Wallyhood Mix & Mingle. Wonderful to see familiar faces and meet new neighbors. We love knowing how people read the blog, what topics you like and hear new neighborhood stories.

Wallingford has 10 public access points to Lake Union. Yes, 10! And we explored each one on June 28 during a guided neighborhood tour that was organized as part of the Visions of Wallingford community filmmaking project.

Our tour leaders were Lee Raaen and Ted Hunter, who have been diligently studying the complex ownership and management of the 23 numbered waterways.
