Leif Totusek, and Phil Sparks will be playing tonight (Wednesday) at Murphy’s Pub from 7-10pm.

These two are great musicians.  They play jazz standards, originals and the occasional adaption of an African tune.  They have been playing together for over twenty years.  A very convivial customer base enjoys their Saturday brunch gigs.

You may just spot some Wallyhood editors there too…

This weekend, I was delighted to pass by the grand opening of Loxicha, a new Mexican food truck situated behind Murphy’s pub. Not having had dinner yet, we had to pickup a few plates to take home. While we waited for our food, I got talking to one of the Cortez-Baños family. They are longtime Wallingford residents and are not new to the food business. They own another truck near Northgate.

Loxicha is a place in Oaxaca from where the family hails. The menu selections are enticing: we went for the carnitas, fish tacos and huevos a la Mexicana.…

Many of you have probably heard that Stoneway Hardware, our 34-year-old, beloved neighborhood store, will be closing soon. This Facebook post details owner Rory Rutledge’s decision to retire and the beginning of the inventory sale this month (along with many beautiful tributes!). I had the fortune to spend a little time with manager Jerry Smith this week who shared some of the reasons this place is so special.

On November 6th, the Wallingford Community Senior Center (WCSC) held Share to Care. Share to Care was the center’s first virtual fundraising event! At the WCSC, we wanted to honor those who have had tremendous efforts in helping the center and created the Hall of Gratitude. Each inductee receives a special engraved heart with their name on it and their pictures will be on display in the Senior Center.
