Just in time for summertime play dates, Wallingford playground is opening on July 4th. We’ve been following the renovation of the playground since November of 2018 when construction first started. Construction was delayed in winter due to bad weather.

According to the Parks and Recreation website, the latest construction delays were due to the wood fiber surfacing delivery and installation. That will now happen on Saturday, June 29th. Once that is completed, the final construction and installations will be completed, and the playground will be open for business on July 4th.

Wallingford’s local consignment shop, Kids on 45th, is celebrating Earth Day all week with a special “Consignment for a Cause” clothing drive. Basically, parents can consign their kids’ clothes and designate the money go to the charity of their choice (or not—they can choose to receive the cash or online credit themselves). Plus there are some in-store activities for kids like a scavenger hunt and a prize wheel.
