Suppose you had a great idea for a large neighborhood project. Maybe you’d like to start a community P-patch, or install a “Little Free Library” kiosk, or maybe you want to improve or update safety features of a building in the neighborhood. How do you get started?
Well, you can visit Seattle’s Neighborhood Matching Fund website for starters, but if you’re serious about seeking a matching award from the city’s Large Projects Fund, you’ll have to attend one of their three mandatory workshops before submitting your application. The good news is that one of the three workshops takes place next …
Janet Strong over at the Wallingford Neighborhood Association (formerly the WNO, and around the corner from Tully’s) provided us with a short list of office items they need to keep things running smoothly. If you’ve got any of the following you’re willing to part with, or you have a little bit of time with technical know-how, drop her a line at [email protected].

Wallyhood welcomes our newest sponsor, Chroma Salon and Spa, located at 1905 North 45th Street. Owned by Bryce Francis and Dan Deaver, Chroma Salon and Spa has been open in Wallingford just shy of one year and they recently opened their second location in Downtown Seattle at the Alexis Hotel. Here’s a little about their business:
We have been Wallingford residents for the last six years and have truly enjoyed getting to know our neighbors. Our salon and spa is built around a team of professionals that are trained in hair services, spa services, and customer care. Attention chicken owners in lower Wallingford (near Irwin’s): Twice within the last week a trio of hens has made themselves at home in my front yard, scratching and pecking for worms amongst my lovely (and now somewhat trampled) tulips and daffodils. I would love for these chickens to stay in their own yard. While I admire people who keep chickens, I am not one of them for a reason. And I don’t wish to have my yard play host to chickens …
Lincoln High School Alums might be interested to know that Seattle Public Schools is thinking about reopening Lincoln as a high school in 2018; but before everyone breaks out the red and black pom poms, this is very early speculation. At this point, Lincoln must remain an interim site for schools that are either undergoing renovation, or, as in Lowell Elementary School’s case, over capacity. And then Lincoln will need to be modernized, including undergoing seismic retrofitting. Plus, there’s a small matter concerning a new levy which needs to be put to public vote in February 2013, called the Building …
Back in December, we told you about White Moustache Urban Adventure Company’s musical/foodie mashup, Musical Plates. For $200, a couple can eat and drink their way around Seattle. In a tour bus. With a band. The bus stops at select restaurants, the guests go inside, nosh for a bit; and the band hops out and plays live. Everyone gets back in the bus which takes them to the next location. Sounds awesome, yes?
If you’re intrigued, then you’ll be happy to know that White Moustache has planned another Musical Plates for next Sunday, April 15 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm with …
