We wanted to give you the heads-up in case you’re headed to Green Lake these next few days. Seattle Parks is holding a “Work Jamboree” between 8:00am and 2:00PM on April 18-20 to gussy up the park and get it ready for the summer. Specifically, they’ll be doing rolling closures of the outer running loop to resurface the path. Work starts today (April 18) at the Bathhouse Theatre and then moves clockwise to the pitch and putt golf course. Here’s what else they’ll be working on:

Seattle reLeaf program and Tree Ambassador Jana Dilley is coming to Wallingford next week to tend to some young residential trees. Overnight fire in Tangletown
Two adults and three children are safe after their house caught fire early this morning in Tangletown (5615 Kirkwood Pl. N). Our good neighbor to the north, My Green Lake, has the story, as does King 5 and Q13. According to the reports, a grandmother helped her son and young children out of the house safely. Investigators believe it is likely that the fire started in a bedroom, due to overheated wires.

Operation Beautification Wallingford

Everyone is welcome to attend and lend a helping hand (or two) for the third annual “Operation Beautification Wallingford” which takes place next Saturday, April 21 from 11:00AM – 2:00PM at Wallingford Center.

Scratch Deli food truck at Wine World
A new food truck called Scratch Deli is offering midday fare outside of Wine World Warehouse (400 NE 45th St.). Scratch Deli offers sandwiches and soups made from, well, scratch. Owner Ian Thackaberry is a former butcher at Whole Foods, and anything that isn’t made in-house is supplied by local farmer’s markets.
Sandwiches from chicken salad to a Blue Cheesesteak Sandwich are priced between $6-$7, and you can get potato salad or chicken noodle soup as a side for under $3. There are gluten-free and vegetarian options available.
