Folks, it’s on! The Wallingford Greenway Block Party is happening on Saturday, June 16, from 4:00PM – 7:00PM! Now that we’ve got the date set, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and start planning for this extravaganza. Retriever statue stolen
Sharon wrote to tell us that someone swiped something unique and sentimental from her porch on Thursday morning: Sometime during the morning of April 19th, a statue of a retriever-type dog was taken from the front porch of my residence in Wallingford. The statue was about 14 inches tall, off white, fabricated from a clay like material, and worth probably about $100. It was received as a gift. The dog originally held a stick in it’s mouth with a welcome sign suspended from the stick. The stick and sign were removed for refinishing. Please contact me if you know whereabouts…
Scattered papers
Danielle wrote to tell us about some papers she saw scattered around N. 37th and Wallingford Avenue N. early Thursday morning:
This morning while leaving for work, at about 8:15am, I found papers scattered on the sidewalk in front of my house. They looked like they might be important to someone so I started looking at what they were, and realized that one of them was a tax form with someone’s social security number. Another was an invoice for a Starbucks order to a Bellevue address, one had Cantinetta’s logo on it & looked like it might be an employee …
Missing or seeking kittens?
This came to us today via “Seattle Meridian”:
At 10:30 am this morning, my kids and I saw four kittens at the Meridian playground (west middle entrance). If someone is missing them, they are there. Although, I’m guessing someone dumped the kittens as they were shivering and looked confused. So, if anyone wants kittens, there are two gray kittens and two whitish kittens. All were friendly and wanted lots of pets!…

Elemental is closing
Shalini over at Eater Seattle tells us that Elemental and Elemental Next Door (3309 Wallingford Avenue North) will close on June 21. Co-owner Laurie Riedeman told Eater that their lease is up and that “she and her business partner (Phred Westfall) have decided to explore new challenges.”
I’ve never been to Elemental, but Jordan and his wife ventured down there in January, and wrote about the experience. Worth the read if you’re considering dining there before it closes.
Thanks for the tip, Shalini!…
