The Mayor’s (not so) Wallingford Town Hall

If you went to the Mayor’s Neighborhood Town Hall on Saturday at the Good Shepherd Center, you may have been a little disappointed by the lack of Wallingford-centric issues that were raised during the hour-long Q&A session. Or, maybe you had expected the lack of Wallingford representation, in which case you may not agree with the following assessment. But this was my take:

Mayor McGinn holds Wallingford Town Hall tomorrow

This is your friendly neighborhood reminder that Mayor Mike McGinn will be holding a Town Hall tomorrow at the Good Shepherd Center (4649 Sunnyside Avenue North) in Room 202, from 11am-12pm.

The Mayor’s visit to Wallingford is part of his Engage Seattle initiative “to ensure that as many people as possible who live, work, or play in Seattle are able to voice their concerns and offer their feedback directly to the mayor.”

Blessing of the pets

Wallingford is such a pet-friendly neighborhood, isn’t it? So much so, that our neighbors look out for one another’s pets with almost as much care as their owners. Take Jenny and Janna, for example: Two lovely neighbors who helped get Muffy the cat out of a rather tall pine tree last week. Or how about the time when the Jai’s dog Stella was stolen right outside of the Durn Good last year, in broad daylight, and neighbors rallied together to put up fliers and keep on the lookout for the getaway truck? Just when you thought that there was every type of food truck imaginable, you hear of a new one.

This time, it’s all about the cheese.

Cheese Wizards, owned by Tom and Bo Saxbe, are purveyors of all the gloppy goodness in a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich; and during the month of October, they’ll be at Wine World & Spirits (400 NE 45th St.) on Wednesdays (from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, during “Meet the Brewer” night) and Saturdays (from 2:00pm to 5:00pm).
