The much anticipated Eltana Bagels has finally opened on the SW corner of the Prescott Wallingford complex (nee, “The Big Pit”), at 3920 Stone Way N. The bagel purveyor specializes in hand-rolled artisan bagels that are baked in a wood-fired oven, which customers can see right as they walk in the door.

2011-12 School Reports for Seattle Public Schools

Today, Seattle Public Schools (SPS) released its District Scorecard for the 2011-12 school year, along with school reports for each school in the district. The SPS Office of Public Affairs sent an email out to families enrolled in the District noting that “The District Scorecard for the academic year 2011-12 shows year-to-year growth in 12 of 23 area, including one of the District’s most crucial goals: on-time, four-year high school graduation.”

Family Movie Night at WCSC this Saturday

The Wallingford Community Senior Center (4649 Sunnyside Avenue North, Basement Level) is hosting Family Movie (and Pizza!) Night this Saturday (Nov. 3) from 5:30-8:30pm, featuring “WALL-E“.

Bring the kiddos and your appetites for some pita pizzas (made in the WCSC kitchen), salad, beverages, and, of course, popcorn for the feature presentation!

Trick or Treating in Wallingford

While we may have earned third place as the most Trick or Treatable place in Seattle (according to Zillow), the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce tells us that they have every intention of taking back the #1 spot — and they mean business! (< see what I did there?)

This year, the Chamber has enlisted the support of 65 Wallingford merchants to hand out treats on Halloween, between 4pm – 7pm.** Look for an orange “trick or treats here” sign on participating merchants’ doors.
