Well, it looks like the option to shuffle incoming 6th graders from Hamilton International Middle School off to a “6th Grade Academy” in Green Lake is a thing of the past. On Thursday, the Seattle School Board voted 4-3 for the following plans to address the capacity issue (per Seattle Public Schools’ website):

Back in September, we wrote about the Theater of Possibility (TOP) — a great way for kids to develop social skills through drama classes. Lauren Goldman Marshall, founder of TOP, wrote to tell us about a few classes she’s added for winter/spring, and a 2-week summer camp:

Wallingford Art Walk Returns Next Week
Wallingford Art Walk 2013 kicks-off next Wednesday, February 6, from 6-9PM. The Art Walk will be held every other month including February, April, June, August, and October.
One of the featured artists this month is Joan Stuart Ross, whose encaustic/collage paintings will be on display at Johnston Architects (100 NE Northlake Way, Suite 200, between Gasworks Park and Ivar’s Salmon House), from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

Midday burglary on Monday
A reader wrote to tell us her home, on N. 40th (west of Sunnyside), had been burglarized during the day on Monday. The burglar kicked in the back door and, she writes, “Everything of value in the house (2 computers, a camera, two phones, a ring) was stolen.”
