It’s the first of March which means for the next two weeks, we’ll be seeing neighborhood Girl Scouts and their parents out in front of QFC, hawking their delectable selection of Girl Scout Cookies. If you partake, then you might be happy to know that this year, many Girl Scouts will accept credit cards as a form of payment.

Fake Cop Arrested

According to the SPD Blotter, Ryan James Purdy, the person robbing people in parks by flashing a fake police badge, was arrested Wednesday in Auburn after bragging to a fellow bus passenger about his signature scam. More from the Blotter:

Purdy was riding a bus in Auburn Wednesday when he began chatting up a fellow passenger and mentioned he was wanted by police for impersonating a cop.

The passenger got off the bus and called the real police.

Dan Hegelund, an internationally renowned choir director from Sweden, is starting four new choirs in Wallingford called Common Ground Gospel. Hamilton Middle School Open House Thursday

Wallingford fifth graders and their parents are invited to attend an open house for Hamilton International Middle School (1610 N. 41st. St.
Directions & Map) this Thursday (2/28), from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Students will learn a little about what it’s like to be a Hamilton Hawk, and this is a fine time to ask questions about transitioning from elementary to middle school. You’ll also get to learn more about Hamilton’s APP, World Language, Music, and Athletic programs.

A Fake Badge and A Box of Porn

Apparently, there’s a guy posing as a cop who’s been robbing people in the area.

SPD tells us that a 46 year-old male named Ryan James Purdy (aka Tracy Byers) has been on robbery detectives’ radar since December, when he robbed several people in Volunteer Park, taking cash and credit cards, after he flashed a fake badge.

More apartments planned for Stone Way

Looks like plans for a new mixed-use apartment building on Stone Way are in the works. This time, it’s on the former site of Stoneway Roofing, at 3636 Stone Way N. We phoned Stoneway Roofing back in the fall when we heard they were closing that location, but they were pretty mum about vacating the space.

The Land Use Application calls for “a 4-story 120 unit residential building with 7,642 sq. ft. of retail at grade. Review includes demolition of existing structures (20,430 sq. ft.) Parking for 148 vehicles to be provided below ground.”
