Parking in our tight urban environment continues to be a hot topic in “Too many cars!”. If a property near you has way too many drivers for the curb space in front of it, check for tips and to have your say, or if you happen to live in such a property, likewise! Tempted to celebrate the temporary cessation of rain by hanging out your laundry on “Outdoor Clotheslines”? See if there are any city regulations about…Answer Some Questions – Help the Library!
We will do almost anything in our house to help the Wallingford Branch of the Seattle Public Library. So, taking a brief online survey doesn’t seem like much to ask. It took me less than 10 minutes and it was informative! For example, did you know that the Library offers the following services (great tidbits for your next dinner party)?:
Online magazines and newspapers (for example, Consumer Reports and the New York Times) – Skip those expensive subscriptions, save some trees! Librarian assistance available 24 hours a day via online chat – For those insomniacs who need to talk to …Free Book Contest! – Your Pet’s Motto
Because she loves us, Wallingford author Rita Amer is giving a free autographed copy of her new children’s book The Cat with the Golden Fang to the reader who can submit a comment with the best motto that describes their own pet.
The Cat with the Golden Fang is a light-hearted adventure with a feline heroine Marta Petunia’s whose family crest reads: “Touch Not My Tail, Lest You Suffer My Claw”. Here are a couple of early entries, but I’m sure you can come up with something at least as good for your little furry (or not-so-little-and/or-not-so-furry) companion:

Guild Exit Poll – Savor a “Mid-August Lunch”
The verdict for this one was: “bellissima!”. No surprise – as an Italian movie it’s got to be sexy, stylish and brew a killer cappuccino, right? Opening at The Guild on 45th on Friday, Mid-August Lunch drew these comments from il pubblico:
“It was very funny and charming and sweet. And the male lead is very good-looking! He had a nice smile. ” –David
“A lovely portrayal of older people which you don’t find that much. It had a fun view of Rome, a different view. We liked it a lot.” –Virginia

Crazy Beans Leaves Town
I saw this Tuesday morning at the corner of 45th and Corliss. The Crazy Beans drive-thru espresso stand all packed up and ready to hit the road. The moving crew told me they were hauling it up to Mukilteo, but didn’t know if there was going to be a replacement. Now where are we going to go for our in-the-car quick-fixes of caffeine?
Remember the Roosters place that used to be there? That one got shipped off somewhere else too. Is this location jinxed?…
Cat with the Golden Fang
As Rudyard Kipling famously wrote, “Run and find out” is the motto of the mongoose. Once you get to know an animal well enough, you’ll discover its own personal creed.
Long-time Wallingford resident Rita Amer has published a delightful new children’s book, The Cat with the Golden Fang, whose heroine is an exquisite cat named Marta Petunia.
Rita first had the inspiration for The Cat with the Golden Fang in the mid-80’s, then moved to Seattle in 1989. Almost all of it was written in Wallingford, where she enjoyed the “artistic atmosphere” and where you can find something “magical …
