We can’t damn the kids, so we must damn the house. Here are some local options:
All Together Skate Park is open for fun behind Evo, replacing the erstwhile innerspace. It has camps and open skate times. Green Lake Community Center winter basketball gets on track November 30th for all ages- our son has been there for many years. Mike McGinn is even a coach! Well, McGinn is at Bitterlake, but still, it’s pretty cool that we get the awesome Ernie Chatters and get to play against McGinn’s team. Select a category and then filter to “Green Lake Community…Can You Find Cooper?
Not D.B. Cooper, just Cooper The Cat. We typically don’t do this on the front page of Wallyhood (see Forums / Lost and Found on the menu up above), but we imagine the cat is not loving the weather and the picture is adorbs, so we figured to heck with journalistic standards and pride (sort of a daily ritual for us.) Anyhow, Elizabeth writes:
Cooper is an incredibly friendly and curious guy, who likes to climb into open sheds and garages. He also wiggles out of every kind of collar, so doesn’t have one on. He has been missing since …
Fixing the Bike Master Plan for the 45th Street Overpass
Now that Move Seattle has passed, the language Jean Godden added to the levy for us is part of the plan. SDOT must “Develop plans and complete improvements to enhance the NE 45th St corridor for pedestrians and cyclists between 4th Ave NE and Brooklyn Ave NE by the time University Light Rail opens in 2021.”
The current Bike Master Plan needs to be fixed as it lists no I-5 bike crossing options except for the unfunded and unplanned 47th street bike and pedestrian bridge. Here is the current plan, where the bridge is the red segment:
Here’s an adjustment …
Final Seattle 2035 Open House, Thanksgiving Lunch at the WCSC
What are your plans amidst rain and wind? To decode the Voynich Manuscript? Bah, that’s child’s play, try to fix Seattle 2035. While we’ve lost all hope of changes given the election results, the WCC says you should do your civic duty. This comes to us from Frank of the WCC:
The last Seattle 2035 Open House for public comments on the updated Comprehensive Plan is this Saturday November 14th, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at North Seattle College. There is a presentation at 10:00 PM. The meeting is in the College Center (CC) building, and parking is free.

Satay and the Stone Soup Downstage Theatre Are No More
Satay’s last day was yesterday, we’ll be missing Satay’s dog-friendly back porch and laid back atmosphere. Stone Soup Theatre will be shutting down the DownStage performance space at 40th and Stone Way after 20 years of performances this December.
From Satay: We’d like to thank all our customers, employees, friends and family for their support over the years. A special thanks goes out to our Auntie Moon whose generosity in teaching us how to cook Malaysian food is much appreciated.
Sincerely,
The Satay Brothers
From Stone Soup Theater: One thing we can all count on is change. Many months prior …
Making a Cycle Track Work on Green Lake Way
We’re looking at fixes to the Bike Master Plan for Wallingford now that Move Seattle passed. First up: Green Lake Way and 50th.
Currently, the Bike Master Plan includes a cycle track on Green Lake Way North of 50th that continues around the lake, up to and past the Green Lake Community Center. The cycle track will be on the side of Green Lake Way that faces the park because that reduces conflicts with cars. It will also continue on 50th West of the intersection, connecting to a cycle track on Phinney.
The cycle track on Green Lake Way is …
Seattle 2035 Changes to the Comprehensive Plan
The election results from Tuesday mean HALA and Seattle 2035 now have a clear path to become law over the next couple years, including the upzoning of the Wallingford Urban Village. At Wednesday’s WCC meeting architect and longtime WCC land use guru Greg Hill went through the 159 pages of Seattle 2035 and pulled out this sampling of developer goodies packed inside:
Land Use Guideline fromCurrent Comprehensive Plan Mayor’s Recommended Change Change LU1 LU1.1 Use the goals and policies included in this Plan to identify on the Future Land Use Map the general locations where broad categories of land…
