Satay’s last day was yesterday, we’ll be missing Satay’s dog-friendly back porch and laid back atmosphere. Stone Soup Theatre will be shutting down the DownStage performance space at 40th and Stone Way after 20 years of performances this December.

We’re looking at fixes to the Bike Master Plan for Wallingford now that Move Seattle passed. First up: Green Lake Way and 50th.

Currently, the Bike Master Plan includes a cycle track on Green Lake Way North of 50th that continues around the lake, up to and past the Green Lake Community Center. The cycle track will be on the side of Green Lake Way that faces the park because that reduces conflicts with cars. It will also continue on 50th West of the intersection, connecting to a cycle track on Phinney.

Wallingford Center has trick or treating from 2 to 5 PM on Halloween, plus bring non-perishable food for FamilyWorks when you visit.

Fun fact: You know why the food bank always wants non-perishable items? Because other food they get for free from the grocery stores as soon as it goes past its sell by date. Granola bars and canned food are a precious commodity for the food bank.

Wallingford and Green Lake Community Councils made a request to SDOT back in 2007 to reconfigure Green Lake Way with 3 goals:

Maintain or improve throughput for vehicles at the intersection of 50th and Green Lake Way Connect Stone Way bike lanes to the Green Lake Way bike lanes around the lake Restore lost pedestrian crossings between Tangletown and the park

As SDOT typically does these days, they accepted the bike and pedestrian goals and then threw out the goal of maintaining vehicle throughput. The worst part of that was that they eliminated the two lane car queue for getting …
