The Wallingford Community Council meets this Wednesday from 7 to 9 in room 202 of the Good Shepherd Center. This month we’re focusing on regional transportation issues and we hope you will join us.

We’ll start with a 520 presentation from Ethan Bancroft with the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program. (Ed. Note: For background, the city has been planning for some time to rebuild the “transfer station” (aka “dump”) at 34th and Stone Way for some time. The most recent Wallyhood article on this was our Transfer Station Update in August 2009.)

Now that planning for the dump rebuild is about to begin in earnest, the stakeholder group is spinning back up for the first time in 9 months. The next meeting is this Thursday, from 6-8 PM at Nalanda West Center, 3902 Woodland Park Avenue N. It is open to the public.

Neighborhood plan: The council endorsed a small and simple grant application for a Wallingford Neighborhood Plan Update. The goals will be to update our 15 year old neighborhood plan and to include new community inputs. Meridian School and the Good Shepherd Center: The council unanimously voted that community representatives on the Good Shepherd advisory board should support existing leasing guidelines and oppose granting Meridian School additional space in the center. As the WCC just had the annual meeting, we are scrubbing the June 2nd Community Council meeting. On July 7th, we will likely meet to participate in 520 rebuild feedback round 4253, more on that as the time approaches. I suspect nothing will be built until flying trains can be built for free.
