Angelo Moore, lead singer, saxophonist and thereminist of the Los Angeles funk/punk/rock band Fishbone is playing three nights at the Seamonster Lounge (2202 N 45th St). Last night (Tuesday, Aug. 16)) was the first night. It cost me seven bucks and was amazing. I suggest you try to make it out for the Wednesday and/or Thursday night shows. I might be there too.…

In June, SDOT installed an on-street bike corral in front of McDonald International School, near the corner of NE 54th Street and Latona Avenue. Marjorie, who lives across the street from the school, contacted Wallyhood with her concerns about what this bike rack will do to possibly intensify the current traffic backups on 54th during school drop-off and pick-up times.
Marjorie writes:
A bike rack in that location will make navigating NE 54th and that corner even more difficult—but also less safe. It’s pretty unsafe now, with people having to back up (sometimes onto Latona) just to deal with the …

Editor’s Note: Doug says it below, but a quick reminder that posts reflect the opinions of the author, and not necessarily those of the editors or the site. Doug lists other sources for ballot information at the bottom of the post.
With so much focus on the race for U.S. President, it is easy to forget that Washington state has a primary election next Tuesday. You should have received your ballot last week. If you didn’t, you might want to register to vote in time for November’s general election.
I write a voter’s guide each election cycle, focusing mostly on …

Beware! The University Bridge will be closed for resurfacing and maintenance projects from 8:00pm Friday, July 22 through 5:00am Monday, July 25. It will also be closed for the same period of time the following two weekends. During the interim, the roadway will be rough, so proceed with caution.
SDOT has a bike and pedestrian detour map here. The suggested detour route over the ship canal bridge is approximately 3 miles. The freeway would be much faster.…
Potential Burke-Gilman Trail Closure
![](https://i0.wp.com/www.wallyhood.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/trail-sign.jpg?resize=738%2C355&ssl=1)
If you’ve been on the Burke-Gilman Trail between Stone Way and Phinney Avenue in recent days, you may have seen signs indicating that a section of the trail will be closed due to construction from July 11, 2016 to October 31, 2016. But as of Tuesday, July 12, the trail was still open. So what gives?
A July 6 Washington State Department of Transportation blog post states, “A short section of the trail in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood will be closed for safety reasons as crews continue their preservation work on the Aurora Avenue Bridge.” Seattle Bike Blog immediately posted their …
New Metro Bus Commute, Day 1: Anecdotes and Speculation
![](https://i0.wp.com/www.wallyhood.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/IMG_0038.jpg?resize=600%2C355&ssl=1)
On Monday, my wife took the “new” Metro 26 to her office in Lower Queen Anne. Prior to Metro’s March 26 reroutes and reschedules, that particular bus was usually half-full by the time it hit her stop on Thackeray Pl NE. On Monday it was standing room only, and by the time it arrived at Durn Good Grocery, the bus was completely filled and the driver had to bypass the rest of the scheduled stops in Wallingford, stranding dozens of commuters.
My wife overheard a few commuters discussing if they should begin a carpool, rather than being packed like sardines …
Washington State Democrats Caucus This Saturday

The western portion of the United States gets screwed by our current presidential primary and caucus system. The only state west of the Rockies that votes before March 22 for their party’s representative as Leader of the Free World™ is Nevada, which means a geographic third of the country is represented in the most crucial period of presidential politics by a state founded on brothels and blackjack.
But you finally have a vote.
This Saturday at 10:00am (arrive early if you can), Democrats in Washington state will gather in school gyms, community centers and their neighbors’ living rooms to caucus …
