Have you noticed the posters for Shuksan Descent around the neighborhood? Do you know why someone is advertising an e-book to Wallingford? We got the scoop from Shuksan Descent’s author, Barrett Schmanska. And it has something to do with Wallingford Center!

The e-book Shuksan Descent tells the story of Gary Patrick, a backhoe operator who discovers human bones at a construction site on the Shuksan Indian Reservation, near Mount Shuksan. Bureaucracy, politics, religion, history, intrigue, suspense, murder, and a treasure hunt (minus the pirates!) follow in this fun, locally-inspired novel. Metro Service Reductions – Public Meeting Thursday

Last month, we told you about Seattle Metro’s proposed service reductions in response to a budget shortfall.

This Thursday, July 21, Metropolitan King County Council’s Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee will host the final public meeting on the proposed service reductions. If you didn’t get a chance to attend the recent Seattle meeting, here’s another shot at being heard.

In May, Wallyhood told you that Seattle Tilth was seeking additional gardens and chicken coops to feature in their July 9th Chicken Coop and Urban Farm Tour. Now, they’ve got all the locations ironed out & it’s time to enjoy. On July 9, you can take a look at how people are incorporating animals and food production into their home landscape.

The self-guided tour includes many neighborhoods from Edmonds to Skyway, not just Wallingford.

We did it folks. For the second year in a row, the Family Fourth is powered “by the People, for the People” (as One Reel says). Thanks to tons of local individuals and businesses, the show will go on this year. Here’s the day’s schedule:
