On Wednesday, September 5, the Wallingford Community Council  hosted the City of Seattle’s Homeless Navigation Team for a discussion on the homeless issue, unsanctioned camping, illegal camping, potential solutions to the homeless problem and a question and answer session.

We learned that the Navigation Team consists of only four field coordinators, eight police officers trained to perform outreach, eight contractor outreach workers, one outreach coordinator who is a mental health expert …

Earth Day clean up is sponsored by the Wallingford Community Council and City Fruit. We will be picking up trash, cutting tall weeds, digging weed roots and grass come rain or shine.  Wear long pants and work shoes and bring work gloves.  If you have tools please bring them but we will have extras to share.

Historic Wallingford held it’s official launch on Saturday, January 6 at The Good Shepherd Center. It was attended by more than 140 people who came to learn of the new organization’s mission and of it’s planned activities. Most of the attendees haled from Wallingford but I personally talked with folks who came from Queen Anne, Ravenna and Ballard showing the interest that Seattleites have in learning and perpetuating the history of our great city.

I have just learned of an exciting new Wallingford organization, Historic Wallingford.

A group of very enthusiastic Wallingford residents have developed this organization, had it incorporated as a non-profit entity in May 2017 and will orchestrate its official launch in January.

Why Historic Wallingford? In years past, local architects and historians led walks and tours in Wallingford to highlight our unusual concentration of architecturally significant buildings. Seeking to expand upon this, it was suggested after discussions with several noted Seattle historians, that a formal organization could best expand and carry the work forward – hence Historic Wallingford.
