My daughter will start kindergarten in a few weeks and we live only three blocks from McDonald. We will not be attending McDonald however, because someone outside the neighborhood is willing to pay more than we are for that privilege. Lovers of public art might have noticed that “Transformation” has gone missing from St. Benedict.  Wallyhood last posted about the statue way back in 2011.

The statue was conspicuous in its absence.  Now, only a black circle of dirt remains where the statue stood.

A quick email to St. Benedict revealed:

The annual Seattle Night Out is tomorrow night, August 2nd.  Watch out for streets being closed all over Wallingford starting at 6pm.   Also, be sure to remind your neighbors to come out specially those new residents who might have missed earlier announcements.    The renter’s on our block have always appreciated a personal invite to join the event.

Seattle has ramped up enforcement of dog laws.  A park ranger and two animal control officers are patrolling high-complaint city parks on a rolling basis for violations of animal control laws including off leash citations, missing dog tags, and lack of waste bags.  The fees related to these citations can add up quickly.

Woodland Park, location of Wallyhood’s local off leash dog park,  is one of three high complaint parks to be targeted.  So be aware next time you head out with your dog for some exercise.
