Homelessness still is an issue for our city. As a community we have spent many millions of dollars over the past decade. As a citizen, the issue does not appear to have improved much after all that effort for any side of the issue.

Woodland Park installed gates on roads leading into the park over the summer and early autumn.  The gates sat idle for some time after installation, but I noticed the gates recently being locked overnight starting in late September.  

However, the gates seem to be closed with no regard for the presence of cars in the parking lots.  Most mornings, I walk by the lots on the south side of the park just east of Aurora and half the time cars are in the lot including large motor homes.  By being locked in, it seems to be providing extra security to …

The Great Wallingford Wurst Festival – Friday, Sept. 21 4-10pm, Saturday, Sept. 22 10am – 10pm

This event likely needs little introduction, as the signs blanket the neighborhood. The Wurst Fest is celebrating its 35th year. The event is a fund raiser for St. Benedict Catholic School, a K-8 school located next door to St. Benedict Catholic Church. The event draws upwards of 10,000 people to the neighborhood as a fundraiser for a school with 215 students. Would that all fundraisers generate that kind of multiple.
