Coffeeholic House, “Seattle’s Vietnamese coffee haven,” is set to open in Wallingford this spring.
It will be located in the retail space of the Chronicle apartments on Wallingford Avenue N near N 45th Street, but the exact opening date is unknown to the public.
Coffeeholic, self-proclaimed as Seattle’s first Vietnamese coffee shop, brings a unique coffee experience to the area. They specialize in coffee “steeped in tradition and served with a modern twist,” the website reads.

Coffeeholic isn’t the first Vietnamese coffee place in this part of town, with Aroom located less than a mile away on Stone Way N near N 38th Street.
Staying true to Vietnamese tradition, Coffeeholic brews highly-caffeinated robusta coffee grounds through a phin-drip filter. The result is an intense cup of coffee with a “nutty, rich, and caramel-like” flavor profile.
Husband and wife duo Chen Dien and Trang Cao opened the first Coffeeholic store in Columbia City during the height of the pandemic. Not only did their business survive the pandemic, but five years later they’re thriving with two more locations, in Greenwood and Bellevue, and are working towards another in Wallingford. They also own M Cozy Cafe near University Village, which serves coffee alongside a brunch menu with items like ube pancakes and pandan chicken & waffles.
Documents from King County Public Health give us a glimpse into a potential menu at the Wallingford location. Drinks range from signature bac xiu (coffee with milk) and ca phe sua da (iced coffee), to drinks with a modern twist, topped with egg, ube or black sesame foam. Four desserts are also on the menu: choco croissant, strawberry sando, bear claw and a blueberry scone.

Once completed, floor plans show the store will have a small dining area, just over 1,000 square feet, with a capacity of 33 people.
The couple and their coffee have made a name for themselves off and online, making the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2023. Local foodies and content creators rave about the coffee across dozens of food blogs, including Seattle Met, which named Coffeeholic “Seattle’s favorite coffee shop” in 2021.
I also consider myself a Coffeeholic. I frequent the Greenwood location, grabbing an egg coffee or bac xiu on my way to work when regular caffeine just doesn’t cut it. My favorite drink is the “Purple Haze,” an ube latte topped with a house-made ube foam and ube drizzle. It’s a sweet drink, but the coffee and ube create a nutty, vanilla flavor I find myself craving constantly.
