A piece of Wallingford history is going up for sale; only this time it’s not a sad loss for our community. Bedrooms & More, a Wallingford stalwart, has just listed their original building for sale.
Fortunately, they aren’t going anywhere. They will continue to thrive in their fancy new building on the corner of 4th and 45th (designed in the offices of Wallingford Architect Stuart Silk).
After the completion of the 5-story building, they tried using their original location as a seating store, only to find that customers shopping in their new space often didn’t realize they sold living room furniture. Then they tried using the original location as a clearance store during the pandemic. They have subsequently decided that having two locations on the same block is less valuable than owning their own warehouse. So after 52 years of owning the building on the corner of 45th and Latona, it is with bittersweet feelings, that they are selling that location to fund the purchase their own warehouse right here in Seattle.
The stability of owning their own warehouse will enable the Garfield families’ continued service to the Wallingford community. Bedrooms and More has been a pillar of the community as evidenced by providing support to many neighborhood organizations including Historic Wallingford and Celebrate Wallingford. Blake Garfield and Bedrooms and More has been primarily responsible for bringing back and organizing the beloved Wallingford Parade after the pandemic. Jeff Garfield has participated in the organized neighborhood cleanups and is frequently seen doing cleanup around the neighborhood.

The Garfield family grows right alongside the business. Jeff and Wanda’s three sons become part of the business operations in years ahead.

The Garfield’s map out the perfect expansion of the Waterbed Store to better serve their local community. Construction included an 8,000 square ft. expansion, split-level showroom, new brick exterior and off-street parking garage.
From start to finish the rebuild took about four months to complete. Come 1993, the Waterbed Store undergoes a name change and officially becomes Bedrooms & More.
2005 – Leadership Grows
The Bedrooms & More leadership team expands in 2005 when Blake Garfield joins operations to spearhead marketing and media outreach along with managing the sales team. Shortly after, Drew and Krystal Garfield also joined forces.
Together the Garfield’s continue to secure quality control from top-to-bottom by focusing on partnerships with manufacturers that share the same core values as the family business.
