Here’s the scoop for gelato lovers: after almost 6 months, The Fainting Goat has reopened in a new location. Owners Yalçin and Sevim Ataman shut down operations in December 2023 after the building where they were leasing (next to Chase Bank) sold to an apartment building developer. Challenges, including the permitting process, delayed their reopening until last week.
The new storefront landed them between Sea Monster and Taco Time on 45th. They make fresh gelato daily from local organic milk and seasonal fruits. Flavors rotate frequently, but some in the regular line up include stracciatella, pistachio, Mexican vanilla bean, chocolate fondante, double shot espresso and sea salt caramel. A unique goat milk gelato flavored with mastic might be available soon. The menu always includes sorbets, and they make milkshakes and espresso drinks too.
The Atamans began business in 2009 with their location in Wallingford. Next, the couple expanded to Fremont and, since this March, they operate a third store in Madison Valley. Prior to moving here they had a gelato shop for 20 years on the west coast of Turkey. To read more, here’s the story Wallyhood published in 2010 about their first anniversary.
