You may have seen the recent Wallyhood article on the outstanding run by the Lincoln High School baseball team to last year’s state 3A championship. Reader and parent Elizabeth let us know that LHS also hosts a fastpitch softball team, head-coached by Kevin Ticen (former catcher for University of Washington baseball team). The varsity team is led by Senior Annika Ticen (catcher) and Junior Riko Hibino (pitcher). The varsity and junior varsity teams are comprised of players who have run the bases at Lower Woodland Park since little league, and are proud to represent their high school and wear the Lincoln jerseys. They can be seen every practice day walking from Lincoln HS to Lower Woodland (even when it is raining!) where they work out together in strenuous but fun practices that hone their skills and build team camaraderie.
You can support the LHS softball team beginning this Sunday through Thursday (24-28 March) by dining at Tutta Bella (4411 Stone Way N., and other locations)! During this March 24-28 timeframe, Tutta Bella will donate 20% of your order to the team. Just use code EASYASPIELHSFastpitch. This is an easy and delicious way to support our local Wallingford high school. After all: cleats and helmets don’t buy themselves, you know. And Elizabeth tells us that the community support for the team also cultivates a setting that encourage friendships and leadership skills that extend far beyond the field. They are building their self-confidence, character and good ethics.
So: Support the Lincoln fastpitch softball team and a local restaurant, while satisfying that craving you know you have for Neapolitan pizza and other Italian fare. Don’t forget to use the code when you order. Go Lynx!
