Does the seemingly ceaseless litter on the sidewalks and curbside along 45th and side streets bother you? On Saturday, October 14th from 10am -1pm, you have the opportunity to lend a hand to clean up the neighborhood. Colleen Kurke, operating as Street Keepers, adopted N 45th from I-5 to Stone Way via City of Seattle Adopt- A- Street program to tend. This program supports community member’s efforts to improve the appearance of their neighborhood by supplying basic tools such as gloves, litter pickers, bags for trash and brooms, liability insurance, and pick up for the gathered garbage. This support from this program is greatly appreciated!
The October 14th Autumn Clean Up will be the fourth headed by Colleen. She has received financial and promotional support from Historic Wallingford and the Wallingford Community Council for these efforts. For past effort these community businesses, Young Tea, Dicks and Fuel, have donated treats to reward those giving a helping hand. Business support for the October 14th effort would be appreciated as well.
To participate, sign up at the corner of N. 45th and Wallingford by the Animal Storm Sculpture where designated areas to tend are assigned. Families are welcome and you can come and go as your schedule allows.
If you are interested in helping lead these efforts, please contact Colleen Kurke [email protected]. With additional help, perhaps more sessions could be scheduled! It is gratifying to leave clean sidewalks and a mound of yellow garbage bags waiting for pickup. We will be looking for you on Saturday, October 14th!
