News from our neighbor, Dance Fremont…
Dance Fremont needs your help! Since 1996, Dance Fremont has been a part of our
community at 4015 Stone Way N. While their permanent studio is being renovated,
they’ve moved to a temporary location at 8420 Greenwood Ave N.
Dance Fremont is working hard to inspire a lifelong love of dance in each student in an
inclusive atmosphere full of joy and creativity. They’re in danger of not being able to
provide meaningful scholarships to students with financial need. With an important goal
of $30,000 by Giving Tuesday, Dance Fremont is rallying our community to contribute to
their mission to inspire a lifelong love of dance in each student in an inclusive
atmosphere full of joy and creativity.
Giving Tuesday, celebrated on November 28, 2023, is a day dedicated to charitable giving
and acts of kindness. It provides an opportunity for individuals and organizations to make
a positive impact in their communities. Dance Fremont, known for its commitment to
providing accessible dance education and fostering a love of dance in people of all ages,
is excited to be part of this movement.
The funds raised from now through Giving Tuesday will directly benefit Dance Fremont’s
programs, including scholarships for underserved youth, community dance classes,
professional development opportunities, and public performance opportunities.
Donations will also support the organization’s efforts to continue providing high-quality
dance performances such as its annual winter performance, The Steadfast Tin Soldier,
further engaging with the community.
Dance Fremont has been an integral part of the Wallingford, Fremont, Phinney and
Greenwood communities for 27 years, enriching lives through the art of dance. Now they
are asking for the community’s support to continue their important work. Every
contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
“The scholarship I received from Dance Fremont has helped me to reach my goals in
life. As a student of color from a working-class family, it would not have been
possible for me to study dance otherwise. For those who are passionate about equity,
contributing to a scholarship is a way of creating justice within the performing arts.
Scholarships help us ensure that a multitude of stories, bodies, artistry, identities,
and cultures are able to leap and pirouette across our stages in the future. Today,
dance is the tool I use to help heal my community and speak truth to power. I do this
work more effectively because Dance Fremont helped me become a powerful dancer
and choreographer. I’m grateful for the incredible teachers and dance community at
Dance Fremont that have shaped the person I am today.”
