THE 2023 GREAT WALLINGFORD WURST FESTIVAL
Friday & Saturday, September 15 & 16, 2023
St Benedict Catholic School is carrying on the 40 year tradition with the return of its annual fundraiser: The Great Wallingford Wurst Festival, Friday & Saturday, September 15 and 16, 2023.
The Wurst Festival is held on the school grounds (between 48th and 49th streets on Wallingford Ave.), and is a community, family-friendly street fair featuring live music from 16 local musical acts and bands, great food, bouncy houses, a “Fun Zone” filled with games for kids with fun prizes, a variety of crafts and vendors, a sweet shop, and an outdoor beer garden.
Admission to the festival is free, with tokens available for purchase for the various activities. This year, there will be one larger beer garden, outside on the school grounds, for ages 21 and over.
The outdoor stage entertainment will open with Tiny Borrachos, at 4p.m. on Friday, followed by School of Rock, Swedish Finnish, The Honeyjacks, Market Street Traditional Band, and Extra Thick, who will close out the night.
Saturday performances kick off at 11 a.m. with The Eclectic Cloggers with Moonshine and Turpentine, followed by the Bonnie Birch Bavarian Band, Home Cookin’, The Mrs. Bill Larsens, The Whateverly Brothers, Seattle Civic Band, Portage Bay Big Band, Sky Landing, The Maywood Mailmen (A Tribute to John Prine), and Green Floyd. The entertainment is a great mix of performers and will attract audiences of all ages.
“This year’s festival will bring together many familiar favorites along with a few new featured musical acts, bouncy houses and games,” said Annie Quinn, Wurst Festival Chair. “We look forward to bringing this wonderful event back to the community of Wallingford and beyond.”
