This post comes to us from neighbor Sarah Warren.
Isn’t Wallingford a great place? We’ve got QFC, a slew of fantastic restaurants and bars, 2 hardware stores, a post office, a library, doctors and veterinarians, schools, some great parks, a farmer’s market, and great neighbors. Why would anyone ever want to leave? And yet, sometimes we find reasons to get outside the boundaries of our cozy little neighborhood. And when we do, it’s nice to be able to do that via transportation routes that are convenient to our chosen mode of travel. And that’s why those of us who use the University Bridge may wish to fill out the survey that SDOT is currently running to provide input on future construction planned to rehabilitate or replace the concrete section on the north side of the bridge.
The plans for the upgrade are still a ways off. The report won’t be issued until 2024, and no word on when work might actually start. But the time to give input is before anyone lifts a shovel, so share your thoughts now. They are asking for input about how you cross over or under the bridge, whether by foot, bike, bus, car, boat, or freight, and how you would like to see impacts from construction minimized.
Here’s the link to the survey. It’s open until Friday August 18, 2023.
