If you haven’t noticed, by the volume of unsolicited cards in your mailbox showing smiling people and (mostly) professional layout and design…It’s Election Campaign Season! Election Day is Tuesday, August 1st. Our current Seattle City Council representative, Alex Pedersen, is stepping down from his seat at the end of the year to restore his sanity and presumably pursue life in the real world—or at least, an alternate reality than the bubble that is Seattle city government.
Pedersen is not alone in his decision to move on from his SCC seat. Citywide, there are 45 people who are running for the 7 positions. In our district, District 4, we have four candidates: George Artem, Ron Davis, Maritza Rivera, and Ken Wilson. In the past, Wallyhood has tried to interview candidates to provide a basis for comparison, contrast, and choice. But I noticed that recently, the Seattle Times performed that task by providing background bios and then asking each the same set of questions related to city and district issues. I thought it was a simple and straightforward way to do some side-by-side evaluations. Realizing that not all people subscribe to the Times or pay attention to their content, we thought it would be helpful to provide the link to the article by clicking here.
Seattle Times endorsements can be found here, while those by the Stranger are here. Those from your wacko neighbor(s) should be solicited directly. Wallyhood does not do endorsements, primarily because no one has offered to take all of us on a luxury cruise to an exotic location. Regardless of your political leanings: please vote! If nothing else, it’ll give you license to complain bitterly later.
