As Monty Python used to say, “And now for something completely different…”
It’s an invite to the Death Café! As macabre as that may sound on the face of it, this is an earnest and well-intended effort sponsored by the Wallingford Community Senior Center (WCSC), at the Good Shepherd Center. The event flyer that was shared with Wallyhood describes it this way:
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to drink tea, have a snack and discuss death. Our objective is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.
We are not a society that deals with death—our own, and of those we love—very well. We often simply avoid the subject until we are not able to. Is there a more rational and enlightened way to consider and discuss it? Come to the Death Café to find out! Tuesday, June 27th, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the WCSC (downstairs in Good Shepherd).
WCSC requests that you RSVP if you’d like to attend, 206-461-7825.
