A reader wrote to us with these additional details:
I just got home from the Gym and there are 2 cop cars on my street, officer standing in the middle of the road between 44th and 43rd on Corliss Ave N.
Apparently moments ago (around 2 p.m.) a passerby was confronted by an individual with a firearm. The robber was unsuccessful, they didn’t get anything from the victim.
I asked one of the cops in his cruiser why the robbery failed and he claimed he wasn’t sure he wasn’t with the victim, but they are bringing a dog onto the scene for some reason or another.
It’s not clear if there are, in fact, two attempted armed robberies near 43rd, or just one. (The SPD twitter feed reports just one near this location.) Also not clear is if these robberies (or attempts) are related.
I heard he was arrested and released between each of the robberies and that police are thanking the people of Seattle for their tolerance of violent crime as it continues to prove effective,
