The Wallingford Community Senior Center will be offering a Covid vaccine clinic on Thursday, October 6. They will be administering both the new, bivalent booster and the original series. All three brands of vaccines will be available. The whole process will take you less than 30 minutes.
Other clinics that have been announced are not so close by and some have proven difficult to get an appointment any time soon. This clinic is now accepting reservations online or by phone to the Center. For adults and children 5 years and older, register here. New appointment slots are now available for most of the day. For children under 5 years, register here. The infant appointments are available from about 11:30 am till about 4:15 pm. Or call the Center at 206 461 7825 between 9 am and 4 pm, weekdays.
The Senior Center is located in the Good Shepherd Center at 4649 Sunnyside Ave N, on the ground floor.
A recent article in the New York Times reports that researchers believe the new vaccine is likely to be effective against not just the current Omicron variants but also whatever comes next. Research from Israel is also showing that getting vaccinated is the best defense against “long Covid”, which has been devastating to folks who can’t shake it.
If you are immune compromised, it is recommended that you contact your family doctor immediately on testing positive to Covid and obtain a prescription of Paxlovid, a simple pill. Early administration has been shown to reduce the likelihood of hospitalization by almost 90%. There have been some “bounce back” infections after the patient tests negative for Covid but they have been mild with Paxlovid.
And don’t forget to get your flu shot. The 2022-23 winter season version is available now and is in sufficient supply.
Thank you very much for providing this info!
I’ve tried to make appointments for a COVID booster twice at Bartells; they cancelled both appointments an hour before they were to happen.
