Wallingford Community Senior Center, located in the Good Shepherd Center, is starting a new program, open to the greater community. Mending is one way to slow down the fashion cycle, lessen landfill overflow and enhance garments and textiles. Creative menders around the world are taking on this challenge in appreciation of resources and sewists. Hosted by deborah barnes, former owner of Zootsuit Custom Apparel and creator of the FashionRIP Project that made recycouture garments for ecosystem themed installations at the Kerf Gallery, once located at the Wallingford Center; is happy to be back in the Hood!
The intro on 7/27- will feature ideas, samples and information about the mending spirit. In the following sessions, we will have a few sewing machines and other necessary supplies. If you have a mending project, a garment that needs altering, a refashion project or wish to try some new ideas with thread and cloth; this is the place. We require proof of a booster and masks. Please call 206-461-7825 for further information.
