Yes, it’s been a while. Over a year, in fact. Late last summer, after wrestling with a spam problem on our forums for a few months, we regretfully made the decision to shut them down. Not only did there seem to be no easy solution, but with the pandemic in full bloom, we here at Wallyhood had less time to devote to this blog overall.
We recently revisited this problem with fresh eyes, and we’ve come up with some new solutions. We hope that these fixes will stick, but there are no guarantees, of course. While we don’t want to get into details as to what’s been done behind the scenes, as with so many digital security measures, we’ve achieved some level of relief by throwing some small but inconvenient hurdles in the way of our users – especially new subscribers. So, we apologize in advance for that. Even if you’re a long-time member of our community, don’t be surprised if you get an email from us asking you to prove your authenticity.
In the meantime, let’s hear from you on one of our forums! Click on the Forums tab near the top of our home page to access our three forums:
- Crime and Safety: Did someone come knocking at your door making claims or solicitations you thought were dubious? Was your car prowled while parked outside your home? Let your neighbors know here.
- For Sale/ Wanted: Have you got an item that you need to get rid of, but which has lots of life left in it? Looking for something that someone else might be about to throw away? This is your forum.
- General Wallingford Chatter: Lost pets and everything else!
Many thanks to Jack and Wallyhood Founding Father Jordan for working on this, and hopefully, solving the issues that caused the Forums to be shut down. Sound off, Wallingford (nicely, please)!
