We hope you were able to attend the neighborhood candidate forum last week (catch the recording here). Ballots are headed to you next week. Here is another opportunity to hear from our mayoral candidates hosted by a nearby group:
Roosevelt Alumni for Racial Equity (RARE) is hosting something a little different – a free online discussion session with just Seattle’s mayoral candidates Bruce Harrell and Lorena Gonzalez on October 11th at 7pm focusing primarily on the candidates’ views on racial equity and opportunities in Seattle. Each candidate will be given 40 minutes. A Q&A session will follow with questions submitted by attendees.

Roosevelt Alumni for Racial Equity (RARE) holds monthly Open Discussions via Zoom on topics concerning racial equity and invites all to attend! RARE is a multiethnic volunteer group that pursues projects and discussions on race. RARE has raised over $250,000 for scholarships for students of color at RHS, is producing a documentary film about the history of race and integration at RHS and is now launching additional initiatives to enhance racial equity in all Seattle high schools and beyond.
If you are interested in learning more about RARE…
- The About RARE webpage does a good job explaining who we are, including our scholarship and documentary projects. https://rhs4racialequity.org/about/
- The Connections webpage highlights our new initiative (in process) and might offer an opportunity for us to work together https://rhs4racialequity.org/connections/
And thank you for considering our upcoming event.
