We published a story earlier in the week about a hot dog lunch benefiting the Wallingford Senior Center. I am sad to report this is another gathering postponed due to the recent surge in COVID cases brought on by the Delta variant. When folks are ready to get back out there and eat a hot dog in support of the Senior Center, we will be back with an update! The Center remains open for other activities!
PREVIOUSLY STORY:
Well yes, the Romans called it the ‘Dog Days’ because the sun rises in the Canis Major (the Big Dog) star constellation in the sky in late August, but for our neighborhood it signals the Great Hot Dog Party at the Wallingford Community Senior Center.
Come on August 25th, from 11:30 to 1 pm, to celebrate that fabulous Coney Island invention, the hot dog. We won’t have sand and salt water, but we will have all the fixin’s for a hot dog that will remind you of going out to the ball game. And pulled pork sliders, cole slaw, chips, baked beans and ice cream, too. Heaven!
Cost for lunch is $5.00 for Senior Center members and $8.00 for non-members. But be sure to register so we know how many people are coming. Register by calling 206 461 2825. You must be fully vaccinated and able to show proof of vaccination whenever you visit the Center.
And remember, the classes and activities have restarted at the Center. Check them out at the Center website.
I’m so worried. Covid is never going away so we’re never going to have a hot dog party again for the rest of our lives.
Let’s be clear. The Hot Dog party is postponed but the Center is still open.Classes and gatherings are still going on, just on their normal smaller scale. All persons entering the Center must show their vaccination cards and must wear masks so it is pretty safe. It is just when you open up to the general, potentially unvaccinated, public that things get dicey.
Thank you. Sounds like Cathy had bad info. Glad the seniors still have a place to go.
Have you caught it? I almost died
So sorry to hear that, Pork. Are you you OK?
edit due to snippy remarks
Oh no, fake news. Senior Center is still open. Why spread incorrect info? You’re scaring the elderly and we should be honoring them.
What did you say that was snippy?
be careful…
Wasn’t me- t’was resp. Gotta move on.
