Our neighborhood now has its own Free Little Art Gallery. Similar to the many “little free libraries” that dot our sidewalks, the concept is to take a piece and, if possible, leave a piece.
An anonymous reader wrote to us to say:
I thought I would share our neighborhood FLAG_Wallingford which opened its mini art gallery on February 24th 2021. It is located on the corner of N 45th and Whitman.
This gallery accepts small artwork to share with folks that walk by for free. You do not have to leave a piece in order to take one that speaks to you. Often times the gallery is rearranged by passerby’s – which is also very fun to see.
We have patrons that permanently stay in the gallery and our mascot Wallace N. Ford (aka Wally) a golden retriever that guards the gallery.
I found it a little challenging to locate the gallery at 45th and Whitman due mostly to my lack of familiarity with that neck of the woods. But it’s right there in plain sight. Those with an instagram account can view examples of some of the art.
What a fun idea. And you never know, you could pick up something by the next Picasso!
This is pretty awesome. Thanks to the contributors/organizers!
