The Wallingford Community Council will be holding its monthly meeting tonight, Wednesday Dec 4th, at 7 pm in Room 202 of the Good Shepherd Center, 4659 Sunnyside Ave N. I don’t know if it’s always so action-packed, but the docket for this one seems rich:
- Dunn Lumber HQ Expansion. Presentation and Q&A on the proposed project.
- Public use of Waterway 20 on Lake Union. City of Seattle presentation and Q&A with Nancy Stachey, Manager of Property Management, and Mike Ashbrook, Division Director of the Department of Finance and Administrative Services.
- Alex Pedersen, new Seattle City Councilmember for District 4. Welcome and Q&A.
I asked Dunn Lumber if they had any materials to share since their last update, but they told me they didn’t have anything to send in advance of the meeting. I guess we’ll just have to go in person and see what they have to say.
Alex Pedersen, our new Seattle City Council representative was just sworn in last week, so it will be interesting to hear what he has in mind for the beginning of his term.
When speaking to the Wallingford Community Council, I hope Alex Pedersen keeps in mind that 29 of Wallingford’s 31 District 4 precincts did not vote for him. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4f71efb9042731289e6c51eab17c79cddbf1c5cf4933a7c598343afff1ad5504.jpg
Well, still a lot of people in Wallingford voted for him. He’s fully aware he’s a NIMBY candidate that can only have continuous political success by ensuring slow growth of the neighborhood to maintain high vote share of Laurelhurst types. He barely won, so he can’t afford more city-life-loving people moving into his district. Once more people start to settle into the highrise condos in U-district, he’ll be replaced by Shaun Scott types.
Perhaps you mean “He understands that his role is to represent his constituents rather than untested, extreme ideology that caters to development interests” , unlike CM Johnson, his predecessor.
