Although many private businesses do not recognize it, Veteran’s Day is today — a national and Washington State holiday. To mark the occasion, a number of local restaurants are offering free food to veterans on November 11, and while they’re not exactly like the restaurants in Italy or the same quality – they’re still great old-fashioned home comfort food, for free.
Ivar’s Salmon House
The Salmon House, located at 401 NE Northlake Way, is among several Ivar’s locations offering free entrees to veterans on November 11. The seafood bar, located out front, also has some free food on offer. Details may be found here.
To take advantage of this offer, be prepared to prove your status:
Veterans must show proof of military service such as VA Universal Access Card, Military ID, DD-214 (discharge papers), Veterans Service Organization Card or a Veteran designation on drivers license/state issued ID. One per person, only. No purchase required. Not valid at stadium locations.
Kidd Valley
Kidd Valley hamburger locations, including our own neighborhood outlet at 4910 Green Lake Way N, are offering a free meal (consisting of a regular cheeseburger, fries and drink) to veterans as well as active duty military.
Identification requirements are similar to Ivar’s (above),
Starbucks
And should you find yourself at Starbucks on 45th, they’ve got a deal going as well. Coffee-related, naturally:
On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Starbucks will donate 25 cents for every cup of brewed coffee sold nationwide to be split equally between non-profits Team Rubicon, for their work mobilizing veterans to respond to disasters and humanitarian crises around the world, and Team Red, White and Blue, for their “Ending Isolation” campaign. In addition, all veterans, active service members and their spouses will receive a free cup of coffee at participating stores.
