UPDATE: Toulouse has been returned.
Cats, especially the indoor-outdoor cat popular in Wallingford, disappear sometimes. Cars, coyotes and other calamities each take their toll. It’s also the case that Wallingford has more than its fair share of porch pirates, pinching packages fresh from Amazon’s delivery service.
But pinching a cat is just beyond the pale. And yet, Frederic posted these photos taken by security camera from this past Friday the 13th of someone doing exactly that to his dear cat Toulouse, along with this explanation.
MISSING CAT: Apparently “Toulouse” was picked up on Friday 13th at 4:30pm in front of his house on 4322 Eastern Ave N in Seattle by a young woman, slim, black long hair, wearing dark blue jeans and a light blue jacket.
That person was presumably driving a circa 2015 white Subaru Impreza. She stopped just after Toulouse crossed the street. The young woman stepped out of the car, petted Toulouse, eventually took him in her arms and drove away.
If this is you or if you know this car and this person, can you please contact me asap? Thank you so much.
Frederic says that Toulouse was microchipped and he has filed a report. If you have any leads, please contact him at [email protected] or through his Facebook post.
On an even sadder note, if you live 40th and Meridian and are missing a siamese or siamese-looking cat, or know someone who is, please read this recent post to Wallyhood Forums, and my heart goes out to you.
[Finally, I know “should cats be allowed outside”, along with “should dogs be allowed off-leash” and “should zoning laws be changed to allow for greater density”, is one of those issues that seem to divide our otherwise politically homogeneous neighborhood into vociferous and intractably distinct camps. However you fall on the issue, please consider that there are people grieving at the moment before commenting on this post.]
So if Toulouse was chipped there is no way to track him and bust this awful woman, is there? It just provides the pet’s health info and home address?
