While many are the stores that carry Purina and Friskies, the sole source in our neighborhood for food for the more discriminating dog or cat has long been Wallypets near Wallingford Center. In the next few months however, Wallypets will be getting some competition for the business of catering to the fine-dining needs of our pets.
Coming sometime this fall, All The Best Pet Care will be moving into the space formerly occupied by Fusion Beads at 3830 Stone Way. Fusion Beads closed its doors about a year ago.
All the Best is a small, local chain with about a dozen stores in the greater Seattle area including stores in Ballard, Greenwood and Queen Anne to name just three. I’ve never been to one, in spite of being the “chef,” maître d’, hotelier, etc. for three typically finicky felines.
I perused the food offerings on the All the Best website in anticipation of receiving some orders in the future from my furry charges. I recognize a number of these brands from Wallypets.
- Taste of the Wild: When my cats don’t bring back enough gazelles from their safaris on the African savannahs, there’s this.
- Acana: “Biologically appropriate, low carbohydrate, low glycemic, fresh, locally sourced ingredients, made in Canada, free-range beef, bison, lamb, chicken, turkey, wild-caught fish.” I’ll be considering this for my next barbecue.
- First Mate and Kasiks: What?? “Pacific Ocean fish skin and coat formula, sustainable nutrition and Australian lamb with antioxidants from blueberries, raspberries & cranberries.” My cats have been stressing the importance of anti-oxidants lately.
- From the Department of Redundancy Department: Fussie Cat.
- Rad Cat: Be prepared to buy some cool sun glasses for your cat after feeding him this.
- You’re not likely to catch me snacking on any Roar: “Raw frozen turkey necks, duck necks, ground turkey necks, ground chicken backs, beef marrow bones, buffalo marrow bones.”
Will never know the neighborhood or have the care for customers and pets the way Paul and WallyPets do!
Oh, dear! I’m deeply devoted to Wallypets, but ATB is a great store. Shopped there for years (up on Lake City) before Wallypets opened. Hope we have room (and enough pet owners) to support both.
Wally pets is absolutely THEE best pet store in Seattle. The staff is knowledable and helpful and owner Paul is one of the most caring individuals you will ever meet. Wally Pet customers become part of the family and pets are called by name upon entrance. It’s the “Cheers” of the neighborhood.
I couldn’t agree more! Wally Pets will remain my #1 pet store. There may be an item that Paul does not carry, or is unable to order for me, but other than that I will remain faithful to our own special store, Wally Pets!
WOW Wallypets has cared for so many pets.I do hope there is enough business for both. The location will serve the many apartments near them- many people have pets here,It is not quite as bad as Verizon moving in across from T-mobile. ( same comment re the insulting poster who I can not allow more meanness from)
Hi I am new and probably missed this but what mean comments are you referring to? I see you add this disclaimer to all your posts but there are never any mean comments made to you. Maybe the mean person has me blocked? I cannot see anything. Not that I am complaining! I don’t like mean people.
You are new. While I am tempted to give examples and use the person’s name I am keeping my anger at the ongoing 4+ years of it in check. At one time I corresponded w/ editor and threatened to call sponsors if it continued.. It stopped for a period of time and continued. They were deliberate, targetted continuing jabs and mean comments. Enough. You can find drama on TV.
That sounds like a lot of drama for a little neighborhood blog. Sorry you experienced it. Luckily it seems to have subsided. Did you know you can block people on here? Maybe that will help.
did so ages ago- did not work. Time to move on. If you need drama. join the neighborhood FB group or join Speak Out Seattle and get into a rousing discussion about tents illegally set up on streets, in parks etc.. needles in playgrounds etc
Yes, I actually think those are important issues. I will check that group out. Thank you! And good luck! 🙂
No chain (big or small) will ever be able to compete with the incredible sense of care and community that you get at Wallypets. I hope people will remain loyal to the small businesses that are trying to make it in our neighborhood.
No way. Not only do I agree with everything said about Paul, he KNOWS dogs. His advice on nutrition and supplements for my old guy has been 100% spot on. And he’s always provided me samples for my dog to try. #solidlyloyal #wallypetsforever
