The Wallingford United Methodist Church on 42nd and Bagley is hosting a funeral planning presentation for those wishing to take control of the Big Exit.
Writes Nancy:
Join your neighbors for a presentation by Kathy Long, Executive Director of Peoples’ Memorial Association, a nonprofit organization that provides funeral education and advocacy.
The event is aimed at those who are looking for a starting point as they investigate funeral options. We’ll be talking about the key decisions individuals should make, the funeral planning paperwork needed and newer funeral options.
More information on Peoples’ Memorial can be found at their website. You may also check out Final Resting for online memorial services.

I want a New Orleans jazz funeral. Who in Seattle can provide that?
I played in the band in something inspired by that a few months ago, but the guest of honor had already been buried and it was just a few people walking around the neighborhood on the sidewalk, at least half of them in the band. The real thing would take a lot of organization, and community. I don’t think you could just hire someone and get satisfactory results.
Alas, probably not. And I wouldn’t be in a position to complain about it, either.
Burn me and toss the ashes somewhere nice.*
