For the past two months, artist Anthony Huss has shared wall space with nine other artists for the inaugural exhibit of Kerf International at the Blue Star Cafe. This month, he has the space all to himself! His fabulous abstract paintings are now on display in the back room of the restaurant through Saturday, March 3. But you can meet the artist at the opening reception this Saturday, January 27, between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Anthony started out as a photographer thirty years ago, but even then, his style was abstract. His photos had the look of various materials, such as acrylic, charcoal, enamel, crayon, etc., and, in fact, there is a style called abstract photography. He has been a member of Kerf International for eight years and was encouraged by founder Dave Felker to explore other media for creating his art.
His transition from abstract photography to abstract painting has been successful, and he has been showing his paintings through Kerf exhibits and other art shows, galleries, and shops for the past several years. Here are a couple of examples of his work, but I highly recommend checking them out in person at the cafe to really appreciate his Jackson Pollock style!
