Wally Pets (Paul “Brownie” Brown) is moving two doors down into the former Wide World Books & Maps. The move is scheduled for the end of this month. Regular customers need not be alarmed about a “For Lease” sign or the upcoming flurry of moving activity. The store is moving over, but not out! By the time you need a new case of dog food or bag of cat litter, you can welcome Paul into his new and improved space.
Over the weekend I talked to Paul about the upcoming move. He is super excited about the new space that is three times bigger. He’s working with a contractor to pull plaster off the walls to expose original bricks and beams. His beautiful wine barrel wooden counter and the wooden storage shelves hanging from the ceiling, which always catch my eye, are all coming with. Paul will use the same woodworker to create additional furniture for the new space. The move keeps Wally Pets in the same building and will afford the opportunity of a longer lease.
Glad to hear this. Wally Pets is a great neighborhood resource.
This is really going to confuse my dogs – anytime we are going there, they sniff and try every door within 2 or 3 to either side of WP. (I tell them to just read the signs but they don’t listen.) How are they gonna learn now that they’ve moved the goal posts? 😉
I hope WP continues to thrive at the new location!
Too bad Wally Pets and WWBM didn’t talk before the latter closed… perhaps they could have swapped leases and allowed the book store to downsize rather than close.
