There is a new barber in the neighborhood at the Baseball Barber Shop (4602 Stone Way N). I’m a big fan of the no-frills, affordable, traditional, neighborhood barbershop. There are only a couple options in and around Wallingford so I’m happy to introduce a new face in an increasingly rare business.
The Baseball Barber Shop quietly changed hands earlier this year. The new owner, Hamoudi (tel. 206-371-1660), bought the shop from Katie Hansen who had owned and operated it for at least 6 years. When Hamoudi learned the shop was for sale, he took quick action and took over the space with minimal downtime. This changeover was abrupt and even took some regular customers by surprise.
I recently stopped by the Baseball Barber Shop and talked with Hamoudi. He was exceptionally friendly and a great conversationalist. Hamoudi made it very clear that he’s in the barbershop business due to his love of friendship, conversation and good people. Hamoudi is happy to be in Wallingford and appreciates that people in the neighborhood are down to earth, intelligent and easy to talk to. He considers Wallingford to be one of the best neighborhoods in the country to do business.
Hamoudi has lived in the Seattle area for the past 18 years and he’s been a barber since 2005. Hamoudi most recently worked in the Wedgwood neighborhood before taking over the Baseball Barber Shop.
Hamoudi offers a classic straight razor shave, which is very hard to find these days. He charges $20 for a regular cut and promises not to tack on extra charges for finishing touches like a little gel or pomade.
For great conversation and the traditional barbershop experience, stop in and welcome Hamoudi to the neighborhood.
Hamoudi has been in the shop for quite a while; not recalling how long. I posted something here about the change of ownership at the time.
Anyway, nice guy and very reasonable (no credit cards accepted at this time) – give him a try.
