Seattle Tilth’s annual Harvest Fair can be described as a country fair in the city. It started as the only neighborhood farmers market back in the 1988, connecting city folks to the bounty of food from local farmers.
Today it brings together some of Seattle’s best qualities: tasty local food, live music, a bustling organic farmers market, urban farm activities and a chance to enjoy one of Seattle’s great parks in our own neighborhood with lush gardens managed by Seattle Tilth.
Co-presented with PCC Natural Markets, Harvest Fair is on Saturday, August 6, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Meridian Park (4850 Meridian Ave N., Seattle) in Wallingford. It’s free — donations are encouraged at entrances to help cover expenses.
A family friendly event, Harvest Fair offers opportunities for people of all ages to participate. Take a turn at The Central Co-op Cider Press, snuggle a goat or chicken at the urban farm area, or make an aromatic herb crown to wear festively around the grounds — connecting you to similar traditions across the planet and throughout history.
Harvest Fair Highlights
- Learn new cooking and gardening tips that you can try at home at the demonstration tent.
- Stock up on ripe produce at the height of the season: farm stands will be overflowing with fresh organic produce such as peaches, berries and cucumbers — perfect for making jams, pickles and other canned goods.
- Vendors will be selling native and edible plants, garden supplies and hand made goods.
Harvest Fair is made possible thanks to the dedication of 150 volunteers and support from many generous event sponsors! Sign up to volunteer. Special thanks to our sponsors: PCC Natural Markets, Northwest Flower & Garden Show and media sponsor KUOW.
