Pam’s Kitchen, the Trinidad-homestyle eatery that opened last year on 45th St thinks that if you just came in and tried the food, you’d be hooked. So to encourage those first-time customers-to-be to get themselves in and see what it’s all about, they’re offering a free lunch this Sunday, June 5th from 12 – 3 pm. All the recipes are made from scratch from Pam’s traditional upbringing in Trinidad.
On the menu:
- Curry Chicken: Classic Trinidadian curry influenced by India.
- Pelau: Similar to a Jambalaya with chicken, veggies, beans, rice and spices.
- Roti: Choice of two types of flatbread (similar to naan but fluffier).
- Jerk Chicken: Slow cooked on the bone, sweet and spicy
- Macaroni Pie: Perfect dish for the kids
I know that Pam’s recently reduced her hours due to low traffic, so we’re all hoping that this juices things up a bit. There’s been too much turnover in that location, time for something that sticks.
This is an amazing offer. I hope there’s a tip jar so we can contribute to the cost of this “free” lunch.
Very nice idea. I like the food there. Is the event happening from 3-5PM as you noted, or is it from Noon-3PM as indicated in the picture? Thanks!
Whoops! Corrected. It’s 12 – 3 pm.
Low traffic because it’s rather pricey, outdone only by the $50/person vegan restaurant nearby. Me? I’ll take Musashi’s any day.
I love this place. Yummy!
A group from my meetup group went there for a meal and loved it.
Is that a cocktail? I thought they only had wine and beer.
You can see the bar from the window. They didn’t have that from the beginning. The house cocktail list is interesting – mojito with St Germain, Moscow mule with mescal instead of vodka. I’m guessing we’re looking at the Rum Punch. The rest of the menu looks about the same, but I’m sure that serving alcohol will raise the general appreciation level – it’s hard to please sober diners.
Pam’s is delicious! Give them a try. But fair warning, you’ll be back as a paying customer soon… 🙂
