As many of you are aware, Wallyhood was “reborn” in the beginning of April, following the outcry of Jordan’s attempt to “sign off” from the blog back in January.
Since then, we’ve had 4-5 volunteer rotating weekly editors and over a dozen volunteer writers help keep the lights on! Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to contribute to this community resource, during a time when it seems like just about everyone is over-committed or simply too busy.
It seems like a good time to check in with you, readers. So please tell us, is this still the Wallyhood you want? What would you like to see more or less of, and more importantly, are you willing to contribute?
Let us know in the comments below or by emailing [email protected].
I’m loving the revamped Wallyhood. There is so much going on in our neighborhood and Wallyhood remains a critical voice. The HALA information is very informative and the discussion is respectful (you really can’t find respectful HALA dialogue on other blogs!). Announcements on meetings related to our schools, businesses, are so appreciated.
Thank you to all the contributors! Cheers.
I’m finding the new Wallyhood to be excellent. The news is interesting and often valuable (particularly the detailed info on local zoning and HALA.)
Greatly appreciate the efforts of the contributors and volunteers. Thank you!
Wallyhood is essential for communication to the neighborhood about the critical issues we face. Newspapers rarely report on neighborhood issues, and fewer people these days subscribe. Local neighborhood newspapers are mostly gone. On issues like HALA, Wallyhood is the best counterbalance to city government propaganda. Keep it up, and thanks.
Still awesome. Only negative was the recent organized influx of non-neighborhood Vaxxer trolls and scum. the fact that they behave, en-masse, like that should tell you everything about the veracity of their destructive little cult. And the Guild on 45th should be ashamed. Has NOTHING to do with free speech. Even the billboard lends that crap credibility. /rant.
Now, Frankie, you don’t want to carry that discussion over here for some reason, do you?
I haven’t been taking notes, but I’ve seen enough references to Wallyhood elsewhere that I’m pretty sure it matters. A lot of it right now comes out of this summer’s heavy load of land use measures, but as other issues of local interest come along I’m sure they’ll show up too. Especially glad to see that there’s still no shying away from issues that might be a little contentious or edgy – Jordan’s rather unsupportive movie article, Eric’s occasionally outrageous ideas – that stuff is what makes it real. Some neighborhood sites seem to emphasize the “bla” in “blog”, and I think it tends to make them less relevant.
Yes! I’ve been here (renting) for past five years and this blog has made the neighborhood feel like home from the start. I look forward to getting the local news and always find time to read Wallyhood! Thanks for all you do to keep folks informed.
Wife and I are very big fans of this blog. We have nominated it for a Best of Connecticut 2016 award and I encourage others to vote at http://www.connecticutmag.com/Blog
Am I failing to pick up sarcasm? This blog is about the Wallingford neighborhood in Seattle, WA. Wallingford, CT is a city thousands of miles away…
I guess the other Wallingford can offer no competition?
Been there. Here is better.
Brian, there is a difference between sarcasm and irony. Look it up.
Test comment
as long as Eric or Jordan don’t post its pretty good…
Thank you very much
That’s pretty harsh, and I say that as someone who has disagreed with Jordan in the past. I for one appreciate that Wallyhood is back. The break was needed but it’s good to see it return.
simply my opinion. they asked, I answered. pretty simple.
Not nice. I enjoy reading Jordan & Eric’s posts. We need to thank them for keeping this important resource going.
so, in asking the question “how’s wallyhood 2.0 going?”, you didn’t want all opinions? those two are the ones that messed it up in the first place, then, when opinion turned against them said, “wah. we’ll show you – no more wallyhood!”. then, Jordan began posting almost immediately!
anyway, I have an opinion and gave my opinion. I did it quick and to my point. sorry if it was the wrong opinion. i’ll try harder to have the correct opinion next time I post!
Eric Knesz (aka flimflam) is entitled to his opinion. It’s dealing with people like him that made me want to shut it down in the first place, though.
yes yes yes – thank you all for continuing to make Wallyhood happen. It’s important to the ‘hood and I am grateful
My wife and I discuss the posts fairly regularly. We definitely feel more informed based upon the contributions of the writers on the blog. Thanks Jordan, to both you and the rest of the Wallyhood team, for making this resource available.
The new Wallyhood is much better than the old one. Far more diversity of opinions now than in the old blog. Less of an obvious agenda from a single political viewpoint.
I really like Wallyhood 2.0. Susanna Lin’s articles have been really REALLY helpful: well-researched and thought-provoking. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! 🙂
Liking it less than before I have to say. I’m getting tired of the enless complaining, particularly about parking and HALA. I am starting to feel like I’m reading the same comments and posts over (and over) again.
Complaining IS annoying! Would you consider submitting an article equaltojake? Wallyhood is now a collaborative effort, run by volunteers (as always), and all readers are encouraged to contribute! Email [email protected] if you’d like to be added to the mailing list for writers or with any ideas you have.
