Something Big on Tuesday – Rally Cry for Wallyhood Champions!
This Tuesday May 5th GiveBIG returns for year 5! This 24 hour on-line giving event, hosted by Seattle Foundation, is a catalyst for extraordinary giving across the region. Donations on this day will lend a boost to nearly 1700 local nonprofits that are the bedrock of our vibrant community.
Seattle Foundation’s Tony Mestres says, “Prosperity is not shared amongst all of our citizens. We’re focused on reducing inequities and ensuring everyone is on a path to success and self-sufficiency. GiveBIG is a call to action in response to these inequities.” We may lead the nation on many measures, but Seattle ranks 40th in charitable giving (2014 Chronicle of Philanthropy report).
This is a BIG opportunity for each of us to fight injustice, give those in need a helping hand, and strengthen our local world. The collective impact can be astounding – $12.8 million in one day for last year’s GiveBIG.
We each have organizations and causes we support, care about, and benefit from. Many of us are well aware of the flurry of appeals from many organizations. What matters is that we each step forward on May 5th in answer to this call to action. Please act locally and generously for Wallingford. GiveBIG!
On Tuesday, the event runs from midnight to midnight, simply go to http://www.seattlefoundation.org/GiveBIG to find participating nonprofits. You can search by name or keyword, and then click to donate.
Gifts large and small matter, and will get a boost from a ‘stretch pool’ funded by The Seattle Foundation and key GiveBIG sponsors. So your gift will go a little further!
Thank You!
Please Give Big to Friends of Woodland Park Zoo Elephants (Northwest Animal Rights Network) to demonstrate local community support for sending Bamboo and Chai to the sanctuary in San Andreas, California.
