Book Reading with Bharti Kirchner, Friday, November 7th, 1:30-2:30 pm
Acclaimed Seattle author Bharti Kirchner will read a passage from her novel-in-progress Season of Sacrifice, time for questions and discussion to follow. Season of Sacrifice is a mystery/suspense novel set in Seattle, with a note of science fiction, and an international scope. Wallingford resident, Mitra Basu, inadvertently witnesses two young women die in a violent protest against the Chinese occupation of Tibet. Mitra suspects foul play. Her search leads to an international intrigue that involves stealing the scientist’s new technology formula for a potentially lucrative malaria vaccine, not currently available in the market.
Bharti Kirchner is the author of nine books—five critically acclaimed novels and four cookbooks. She has won numerous awards for her writing, including a Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) Fellowship. She has been honored as a Living Pioneer Asian American Author. While in progress, her current novel has won a 4Culture literature grant. Free. Advanced registration appreciated.
